Reveiw of the Dye DM5
Speed: This thing is fast. Very fast. The stock trigger is very easy to rip on. The smoothness of this gun makes it easier to keep a rope going for longer. One of the fastest guns I've ever shot. I'd say that an Angel or a Timmy is a bit quicker, but the DM5 is a lot smoother and easier to keep rolling.
Trigger: Well, to me atleast, the trigger is a very important part of the gun. With a bad trigger I can't shoot fast at all. The stock trigger is a very nice roller trigger. The feel is perfect and my fingers fit nicely in the grooves of the double trigger. The trigger is fully adjustable from the outside. Very easy to use. The stock spring is a little tough, I cut it down a few coils and now it is very light, yet still smooth.
Weight: I will admit that the DM5 is a tad on the heavy side. A bit heavier than my old Fly. A couple ounces lighter than the DM4. This gun is not heavy, but compared to other high end guns it's a bit of a fattie.
Looks: This part is my oppinion of course, but the milling is very smooth and looks great. There is a lot of milling, yet the body remains smooth. Also, the top of the gun is made to wipe (or atleast it's very easy to wipe and my hand just slides along), so that it pretty cool.
Efficiency: The DM5, as with all matrices, is a little bit of a whore on air. I don't have any numbers on the stock bolt. With the ghetto tape mod (same as a hybrid top hat mod, only free) I am getting about 400 balls per thousand psi. It's not too bad, but not top of the line either. As long as you get all day air this won't be a problem.
Kick: There is none. Super smooth.
From The Store: I opened the box to see the gun, Ultralight barrel, manual, warrenty card, barrel condom, 1oz of Dye lube, tools, a small parts kit, and a Dye sticker. The box was pretty nice and had a handle and everything. Nice packaging. The gun was shooting a little bit under out of the box. The stock settings were fine, all I had to do was adjust the trigger sensitivity to my liking. Everything came lubed and the gun shot nicely out of the box.
Maintaining the gun: This is very easy. Just take out the 1 piece bolt and lube up the o-rings after every day of play or every case. Every month or so the regs need lubed which isn't very hard. The Hyper II is a little tought to take apart the first time though. Still a pretty easy task.
Consistancy: Very good. I got about +/- 8 out of the box. This was with the reg not broken in. Once the reg breaks in I'm sure it will be better than that. The Hyper II is very good.
Pros:Fast. No kick. Quiet. Ultralight barrel. Good regs. Dye support is great. Looks nice. Clamping feed neck stock. Easy to use.
Cons:A bit on the heavy side. A little bad on air.
Overall: I am very pleased with the DM5. The gun is great quality and I have yet to break a ball after 3 cases. The gun has been great and givin me no problems. I would reccomend it to anyone.
